I live about 15 minutes from Bulington, Ia (CZ), 15 minutes from Ft. Madison, Ia (SWC), or 1 hour from Galesburg, Il.(all Illinois routes). Good shape to go almost anywhere!

I am also less than 90 minutes from Ottumwa,Mt. Pleasant,Ia and Macomb,Il, but I did't mention them because they are on the same routes that I can use.

Waterbury, VT

Montpelier, VT

Randolph, VT

White River Junction, VT

Port Kent, NY

Rouse's Point, NY

Accessible by mass transit from Burlington: Essex Jct, Waterbury (certain times), Montpelier (certain times), Port Kent, NY (ferry)

Sad part is not a single one of them is staffed!

I have 5 Heartland Flyer stops within 90 minutes of me- OKC, Norman, Purcell, Pauls Valley and Ardmore. And if I drove like a turpentined cat, I could almost make Gainesville in that time :)

I have 8

Pontiac

Birmingham

Royal Oak

Detroit

Dearborn

Green Field Village

Ann Arbor

Jackson

That's counting 90 minutes in either direction from my house

Well, being realistic about how far one can actually drive in metropolitan Chicago in 90 minutes, I'll limit myself to the Amtrak stations within the metro area. :giggle:

CHI -- Chicago Union Station

GLN -- Glenview (Amtrak station nearest my home)

LAG -- LaGrange

NPV -- Naperville

SMT -- Summit

JOL -- Joliet

HMW -- Homewood

HMI -- Hammond, IN

DYE -- Dyer, IN

If I actually believed the travel-time projections made by Google Maps   I suppose I could add Plano, IL (PLO), as well as Sturtevant (SVT), Milwaukee Airport (MKA) and Milwaukee Intermodal (MKE) in WI. But since I choose to take the Hiawatha to Milwaukee rather than drive, you can guess what I think of those projections.

What about Rutland?

90 Minutes?

At a minimum (assuming no traffic):

LOR, Woodbridge, ALX, MSS, CLP, WAS, NCR, BWI, BAL, ABE, WIL, Newark (DE), PHL (?), Rockville, HFY.

Probably a few more.
To build off of Ryan, from where I live in DC (Silver Spring) I can count 13 (time from google maps):

New Carrollton: 19 Min

Rockville: 22 Min

DC Union Station: 25 Min

BWI: 36 Min

Alexandria: 40 Min

Baltimore: 44 Min

Lorton: 48 Min

Manasses: 53 Min

Woodbridge: 53 Min

Harper's Ferry: 1 Hour 9 Min

Quantico: 1 Hour 9 Min

Aberdeen: 1 Hour 18 Min

Fredricksburg: 1 Hour 27 Min

Culpepper and Newark, DE are pretty close at 1 Hour 43 Min, so that could probabaly be made in that time. Not sure I could get to WIL or PHL in 90 min, esp with usual 95 Traffic.
