My daughter & I are traveling the weekend before Thanksgiving from WIL to WAS to CHI to PRO

My first (I'm sure I'll have more later) question is:

There were two choices for NE Regional from WIL to WAS - one sched to arrive at 1:30 the other at 2:25. The CL departs at 4:05.

I chose the one arriving at 2:25. Is this enough time to allow for minor delays? Or should I switch it to the earlier one?

I have always wanted to travel LD by train and finally have the opportunity. I can't wait till November (though I can wait for the cold weather to return :p )

I have gained valuable information from this site and will be a frequent visitor between now and mid-November.

Welcome! Why not Join Up as a Member, it's Free and has Benefits! And thats plenty of Time to make your Connection in WAS! If you are Riding in a Sleeper you can use the Club Acela in WAS, and Red Caps can help you to your Train if needed although WAS CA Staff do a Good Job of Taking you to the Escelators that goes down to your Train! If in Coach the Gates can get Very Crowded so a Red Cap is the way to go here so you can Snag a Good Seat before the Thundering Hurd Mobs the Train! :help:

The 2:25 arrival should be plenty of time.

Keep in mind, though, that the schedules this far in advance are just placeholders. There may be one or more schedule changes between now and your actual travel date. Amtrak will contact you if this occurs, especially if it impacts your scheduled departure time.

Thanks for the welcome. I may become a member in the near future (gotta think of a screen name :) ) To save $$, I decided we could sleep in coach for the first leg of the trip, so I won't be able to use the Club Acela. We have a roomette on the CZ and will use the the Metropolitan Lounge in CHI to store our luggage (hope to go to Willis Tower). I will probably use the Red Caps though.

Thanks for the heads up on the possible schedule change. I figured the less time we're in WAS, the less tempted my daughter will be to hope a metro and go sightseeing. :D I don't need that stress (worrying about getting back in time to catch the train).

There's nothing quite like being scolded by an Amtrak agent for being late to the gate, and having to run to make your train!

(It's something I really want to avoid in the future)
