Worst delay Amtrak has ever had?

Ok so I found this old thread and someone posted about a 36 hour late Sunset. Does anyone recall that one and why?

Don't forget the 51 Cardinal last year following the June 30th storm. It had a 20 hour delay around Prince. Part of the problem was finding buses to take all the people onward.

I've been quite lucky, my latest arrival was four hours behind.. that was on the Builder going into CHI.

Well, seeing that this thread has been revived. My worst was #14 sometime in the late 90s. 13.5 hours late. Annulled in PDX & put on a bus without breakfast or coffee @ 5 AM with a bunch of screaming kids. The AMTRAK pres at the time (I THINK it was Warrington) got a scathing letter about how rude and obnoxious the conductor was. I got 2 free r/t sleeper trips. For me its not the lateness of the trip (I love being on the train) its how rude and inconsiderate AMTRAK employees get toward the paying passengers in these situations
