If you run far away.Is there any fresh air at a “smoke stop”
I assume the train is pretty full if that tone of announcing is being used? I hopeGreenwood, MS does not appear to be a long stop on the City of New Orleans. I will update this when I get home from my rail pass trip.
In other news Conductor Drill Sargent made an announcement here in Greenwood threatening the cops on anyone who takes up two seats.
EDIT: Just after I posted this they let us out.
If the train. Is on time, it's often late and the Crew doesn't allow people to get off if so.Longview is a smoke stop on the Texas Eagle. Next one will be Texarkana.
I slept through Texarkana, but Railrat says that you are right. My source was the coach attendant, so I think I’ll keep it on my site.If the train. Is on time, it's often late and the Crew doesn't allow people to get off if so.
Los Angeles is rarely announced as a smoke break on-board the Surfliner. And because of the nature of the train, if you do get up you risk having someone mistakenly take your seat since there's usually a lot of crossover.
I usually use those smoke(aka fresh air) stops to do some walking trainside so I never deal with the smokers. If you run far away.
If you time it right you can also get UberEats (or any equivalent) delivered to the station so you can have some freshly cooked food even at shorter smoke stops. While these extended "smoke stops" provide a way to stretch your legs, the more attractive long stops for us are on the Eastern trains that serve the horrible flex meals. For instance when we take the Cardinal to Chicago, that 55 minute stop at Washington DC is something that we very much look forward to. We will leave the train go into the station and enjoy some fresh cooked food and an Espresso. Sometimes we bring back meals to the train. AFAIK, this is the only stop for the Eastern routes where you can do this. Pittsburgh on the CL route can be a long stop but there are no restaurants in or around that station to get a quick fresh cooked meal especially at 5 AM or midnight. .Same with the times at Indianapolis for the Card.
At Alburquerque on the SWC there is a long stop going east. . The food in the dining car is fairly good but there is a grocery store a block from the station where you can buy yogurt, ice cream, treats, or whatever.
You can’t smoke in Union Station. You have to go out the front door.Los Angeles is rarely announced as a smoke break on-board the Surfliner. And because of the nature of the train, if you do get up you risk having someone mistakenly take your seat since there's usually a lot of crossover.
Yep, my bad. I use smoke/fresh-air/extended break interchangeably most often. But yeah LAUPT is a non-smoking area. You can’t smoke in Union Station. You have to go out the front door.
