    Superliner virtual tour refresh

Hi all, Thanks to panoramic photographer Willy Kaemena, the Amtrak Superliner Virtual Tour has been updated with new 360-degree browser technology that works on all modern browsers. Previously, the tour used an old QuickTime VR plugin that is no longer supported. http://tour.amtraktrains.com/...

New Select Executive Tier at AGR

I'm sorry, where did you hear that S+ is losing United Club access? This has been stated nowhere and in fact has been debunked by AGR Insider at FlyerTalk.

    'Tis a Puzzlement..Hitchikers on #98

For the uninitiated, PV means private varnish, or in other words, a privately owned rail car. Many people own private cars just as others own private jets or private buses. Amtrak will allow private cars to be carried on the end of its trains for a fee.

3rd Times a Charm with Chase

Chase credit cards HQ might be in Delaware, but I think they mail the cards from Ohio. It takes them a few days to get to your card in the production queue and then it gets mailed out. Not uncommon to wait a couple of weeks for a card to arrive after approval.

New Select Executive Tier at AGR

No - it is a 100% bonus you get for being a part of that tier. Bonus points are not Tier Qualifying Points.

    Question about Upgrade Coupons

Glad you had a nice day in Boston! Most likely what happened is when the agent made the mistake, it ended up in an audit log in Arrow which the call center supervisors review throughout the day, just like how they cancel the duplicate reservations where someone books on multiple trains for the...

    Question about Upgrade Coupons

Hi Stephen, You would need to bring the coupon with you to the lounge before you board the train. If the boarding pass made its way to you showing "first class" before handing over the coupon, that is an agent mistake. As PRR 60 said, the eTicketing glitch was fixed and is no longer a factor.

AGR Sleeper Reservations Cancellation Policy (Rescinded)

We actually had a thread recently here on AU where people debated the merit of having an official Amtrak presence on this forum, and the overwhelming consensus was "no." Although the FT AGR subforum is less busy than the AU AGR subforum, the longstanding FT tradition of hosting official...

    LAX Sleeper Questions

Swadian Hardcore, you could at least be a little bit nicer about it. An honest mistake or typo doesn't merit a pejorative "You make no sense!"

New Balance to build Boston commuter rail station

That's pretty awesome. I used to live walking distance from there! The neighborhood has good bus service, but the Green Line (already kind of marginal) is a 20-25 minute uphill walk... so a commuter rail station will do a lot for that area even beyond New Balance. It is currently a fairly...

AGR Sleeper Reservations Cancellation Policy (Rescinded)

AGR Insider on FlyerTalk also accepts private messages for member problems where the normal support channels have failed. Not a bad resource, although I wouldn't bother them with mundane issues that can be resolved by a phone agent.

    AGR Website Problem?

Try refreshing the page -- I got the same error and that made it go away.

Amtrak ONLY Rail Transit to Not Allow Pets!

Well, Nathanael. The solution is to register as a member, for Pete's sake. Guest posting is intended for the occasional or first-time user, not someone like yourself who posts every single day. Sign up, or else take what you can get -- the current solution is working wonders for our spam...

Amtrak ONLY Rail Transit to Not Allow Pets!

LOL! The trumpet you assembled is what gave you the ability to post here at all without signing up for a membership on this forum, which, by the way, is independently owned and operated. Without that trumpet, we would not be able to allow guest posting due to heavy spam.

AGR points redeemed for rail fare part of sleeper reservation

It sounds like you want to redeem the coach amount of points (5500 each) and then just pay for the accom charge? No.

How many AGR points will Acela Ride earn?

That's it -- 200 points plus the Chase bonus. BOS-PVD is not a special city pair for higher AGR point accrual. Acela Business Class is equivalent to coach, so no, free refreshments are not included.

AGR Sleeper Reservations Cancellation Policy (Rescinded)

I'm sure if there were a valid, documented hardship such as a medical or bereavement situation, you could call AGR to seek some compassionate discretion by an agent or supervisor. I believe Amtrak takes such issues into account for some paid travel situations as well.

AGR Sleeper Reservations Cancellation Policy (Rescinded)

Points and dollars are very different animals, and Amtrak is certainly not alone in the travel industry when it treats them differently. Points are a potentially eternal liability on Amtrak's books, while your eVoucher balance is only a liability for the year until it expires -- or until you...

AGR Sleeper Reservations Cancellation Policy (Rescinded)

Now that a no-show will auto-cancel your reservation, if the customer who hopes to capitalize on someone's cancellation is boarding downline, s/he can scoop up that room at the last minute regardless.

AGR Sleeper Reservations Cancellation Policy (Rescinded)

Easy enough - just call the 800# to upgrade to sleeper. Pay the going rate with your credit card, get an eTicket emailed to you, show it to the conductor, and be led to that vacant room you have just purchased. No smartphone to display an eTicket document? No problem - the conductor's...
