    double days returning?

    Sure 'nough!

    Xpress West

Dude, the 'ice bucket challenge' is already SO passe`!
  3. The Davy Crockett

    Xpress West

The article might be well written, but the comments to the article show that a lot of folks need to get a grip and face the fact that roads DO NOT pay for themselves. Plenty of the fools pay lip service to "economics" without having a clue as to what they are blabbing about. Spewing 'ostrich...

    double days returning?

There is still time. I wouldn't blame AGR if they wait until Monday. Experience has likely told them that waiting to make the announcement stops a lot of calls from folks POed that they can't register, for a promotion that has not even started yet, from clogging up AGR's phone lines.

    Whistle blowing routine

Glad I'm not the only one. :hi: When I read the thread's title I thought this was going to be about the process that follows contacting Amtrak's IG office... ...or that the OP is routinely reporting theft, waste and less than 'best practices' at Amtrak... ...or that the OP...

Washington's New Streetcar System Delayed... Again

Throwing WABA under a bus or a streetcar - at least in this instance - has my vote.

Siemens Charger Locomotives Not So Pretty Looking

How many times can I vote YES for this? I'd even be willing to ride behind a Sweedish Meatball to Jersey, to make sure it would be AT LEAST twice. :D

    Rutland, VT?

If you go to Rutland, rent a car, and then there are lots of options. Without a car, there is not much to do. I think the Hampton Inn, which is south of 'downtown' Rutland is okay, and is the best place to stay in Rutland. The staff was great when I stayed there, but the hotel is a standard...

    Maglev in the NEC?

And like deja vu all over again, except: 1)The Japanese govt. is now 'committed' to investing $5 Billion in the project. (whatever this really means) 2)On Wednesday, Sept. 3, '14 Washington Rapid Rail LLC submitted an application to the Maryland Public Service Commission for the project...

    Plane Foamers Pestered

Maybe the Connecticut Airport Authority takes the word "authoirty" in its name a little too seriously? From this article at WTOP:

Washington's New Streetcar System Delayed... Again

I wouldn't call it a mistake. Your point of reference is the MSP area, where things a little more civilized, and IIRC, tracks are generally in the middle of the street, usually on a designated right of way, which makes a lot of sense. Here in The Center of the Known Universe, where everything...

    Service Disruption on EB (9/4)

Call Cuss-tomer Service when you are back home and tell them how much this has inconvenienced you. This should help you get a big credit for future Amtrak travel. You can then use some of the credit to stock up on the things once offered to passengers, plus drinks in the cafe when you are...

Washington's New Streetcar System Delayed... Again

The above quote mentions that bicycles (amongst others) should use caution along the H street corridor. Maybe they were not cautious enough? :P From this article at WTOP: Needless to say, this proposal has not sat well with the biking community. From the same article: The article...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. IMHO they will look awfully sweet when doing 110+ mph!

Lancaster (CA) Wants to Close Train Station to Keep Homeless Out

Get out of town :excl: Homeless along Reno's Riverwalk? :o Might not they just be trolls who emerge from under the bridges along the Riverwalk to try and make an honest (for trolls) living? Don't look down on them :P just because they live so close to Hell that they can see...

    NoVa's Metroway BRT

What were you expecting madam, chimes? Folks here at AU tend to foam about the mouth, not the classiest of behaviors. ...Or was the 2011 convention put on by USDA and about hoof-and-mouth disease? :o :giggle:

Purple Line May Be Held Up...By Shrimp!

According to TRAINS News Wire the FTA has given the MTA the 'green signal' to move the Purple Line to the engineering phase of its New Starts grant program, a major step in the quest to secure federal funding for the project and beginning construction in 2015. ...basically confirming afigg's...

    NoVa's Metroway BRT

At 8:30 in the morning last Tuesday, the second day of 'normal' operations after the opening ceremonies on Sunday, Aug. 24, I boarded a blue and gray Metroway bus at Potomac Avenue and Jefferson Davis Highway* (US Route 1) in Alexandria where the 'bus only' transitway (non Metroway Metrobus...

    Probably the world's largest farecard

Multiple Choice: A) I wasn't! (thinking) B) Desperate times call for desperate measures. C) It was the weekend and Metro, for all intents and purposes, was not running. D) I was under the influence... of going back for a fix... of Maryland, My Maryland. E) All of the above F) None of the Above

    Probably the world's largest farecard

No, that was one of the infamous-for-customer-service-oriented-service CHI based Amtrak employees. In DC I get pulled over for no good reason and then told to appeal the ticket I was given by the cop who gave it to me...
