It has been a few years since we departed LAX. As I said before, never ever had a limited menu the multiple time we have done it. Hence why I asked the original question.

Funny, they had no problems for years serving steak at that meal. Now all the sudden it is a problem?

I have only ever seen the express menu used when close to arrival. This is the first time ever when departing. And I have made this same departure many many times over the years.

Not sure if it is like the cono. But it has limited choices. It is still a full dining car and separate lounge.

They put out the Express Menus so who knows, maybe a change. Interested to hear anyone else's recent experience. They are also offering hamburgers for dinner.

I am pretty hacked about this as it is our only dinner. Already emailed customer service.

Okay, just got on number 4 in Los Angeles. In the past, they have always done a full dinner service. Tonight they announce it is a limited serving and they only have like 3 options and one is NOT the steak. Is this normal? Or is this a crew deciding to do their own thing?

We are still running late but it looks like we will be there to make our connection to 768. Not sure if we will make it to the met lounge though.

Well, we were doing real well until Gallop where a couple of people in coach were doing "lewd" things in their seats. They were removing them but apparently resisting so the police have been called. It has been some VERY interesting radio chatter by the crew. Glad I brought the scanner.

Read elsewhere that car is going to Albuquerque where it will over night and go back on Sunday.

I have had the "reroute" myself! Are you saying they sent it to you automatically? Or you called and then they sent it to you?

I am becoming less convinced that the Southwest Chief will arrive in time for our Surfliner 768 train to San Diego (in business class). If this turns out to be true, how should I handle getting re-ticketed to a later Surfliner? Should I just wait until I get to Los Angeles and let the ticket...

Looks like #3(29) has done no better.

So, do you know if the Surfliner loco was acting as the second unit? Or did they have it tacked on as a third?
