    Amtrak delays

Delays at STL, someone on the cam states high winds, 22 and 308 at station and 319 waiting just on other side of Miss. bridge.

    Brightline Trains West!

A real high speed rail service outside the NEC. Just letting this sink in. If California chooses the same equipment they might get a discount with bulk ordering. Thanks for the rendering.

Management issues of State funded services

Could be the best thing to happen to Amtrak if California defects. It will cause a cataclysmic shake up in DC. And competition is always good. To bring this back to Siemens, the smartest thing the states did was buy their own equipment, so they are not beholden to anyone.

Ambitious restoration and transformation in the Chicago area

Roosevelt bridge might also be a problem, the Superliners barely clear it. Its south of the station

    Texas High Speed Rail

Brightline, please take this over, there must be a business case for it. https://thetexan.news/landowner-files-petition-to-depose-texas-central-seeking-answers-on-high-speed-rails-future/ At least we will get an answer one way or another.

    Brightline Trains West!

Thank you, I was thinking of the line going through Fullerton, I see there are a parallel lines to LAUS.

    Brightline Trains West!

I guess Siemens' Novo EMU provided better performance on the computer over Cajon compared to Alstom's Avelia's two motor cars. The Avelia can be had without the expensive tilt system. The Avelia has shared boogies while the Novo does not, supposedly shared boogies provides a more stable and...

    Brightline Trains West!

That is HUGE news is true. The business side of this venture just took huge leaps forward. Wouldn't BNSF be included in those discussions too?

California has some of the coolest names for towns and cities. Rancho Cucamonga?............Love it.

How did Siemens widen the body so much on standard gauge? This line will have catenary? Wonder why Brightline did not piggyback off the Alstom order. Then again Brightline is familiar with Siemens.

    Amtrak delays

59 Cancelled, mechanical. Doesn't it have a Siemens locomotive? Would love to see Siemens penalty payments. All new tech has teething problems.

    Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT) (2021 - 1Q 2024)

That last part must be, because I saw a Midwest west amfleet and Venture every other car train. Bizare consist. Thank you for the clarification.

    Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT) (2021 - 1Q 2024)

So the Venture cars are not similar to the Airo?

    Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT) (2021 - 1Q 2024)

I thought the Siemens cars were semi permanently coupled together. Saw on a St. Louis Railcam one of the Lincoln service trains had an Amfleet interspersed between the Siemen cars. Beyond being and odd looking train, I thought the Siemen cars were sets.

Long Distance (LD) fleet replacement discussion (2022 - 2024Q1)

Reading the last two pages of posts about how to meet the ADA requirements pretty much guarantees a single level replacement. The best we can hope for is the return of the full length dome that will be added to the Western LD trains and maybe Cap Ltd. Lighter single level trains will then...

    Auto Train discussion

The same trains or cars that Amtrak uses when the AT cars have to go in for heavy service. 479 Superliners were built, and while a large number of have been sidelined its up to Amtrak management to at least have a third consist for their most profitable LD train per their words. We are running...

    Auto Train discussion

This why I do not understand why AT only have two consist sets and not three, four preferable. Its looks good accounting wise keeping a consist perpetually moving day in, day out but as airlines have found out, always good to have a backup plane waiting. It makes sense to have three consists...

    Auto Train discussion

On TrainOrders, someone on the northbound states the switcher derailed and they are still waiting for their cars hours after arrival. So 53 was not going anywhere today anyway until the switcher is rerailed.

    Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT) (2021 - 1Q 2024)

Why? Amtrak is trying to get away from tedious and time consuming engine swaps. The Sprinters will be resold to commuter lines along the NEC. Or maybe elsewhere in the world, its a better built Euro Sprinter /Vectron. If I am the midwest states I am thinking why do our sets (well not really...
