MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) discussion

@Trogdor - Thanks for that update. The LA Metro order with CRRC Springfield seems to be in limbo as well. The Orange Line in Boston now limps along as they are only using the new CRRC cars available as the Hawker-Siddeley cars from 1979-81 have been retired after the fire last year...

MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) discussion

Deval Patrick was governor of Massachusetts and Rich Davey was general manager of the T when the deal was brokered in 2014 with CRRC for the Orange Line cars. Charlie Baker as governor then added the Red Line contract in 2017. Baker is now president of the NCAA. Davey is now president of the...

    MBTA Providence Line

The MBTA Providence line runs well. The biggest wart is the South Attleboro Station which opened in 1990 and was deemed unsafe 2 years ago. With the opening of the new Pawtucket/Central Falls station, I see no valid reason to rebuild South Attleboro except it has parking. The bigger...

Should Amtrak restore service to Grand Central Terminal, NYC?

The one thing we can all agree on is there will never be a tunnel connecting GCT and NYP, that train left over a century ago. All I was suggesting was possible enhancements to Amtrak in and out of NYC.

Should Amtrak restore service to Grand Central Terminal, NYC?

I suspect that limitations at NYP are the core issue, We all know that the NEC infrastructure between Newark and Manhattan is tenuous................

Should Amtrak restore service to Grand Central Terminal, NYC?

Everyone has made valid points. My thinking was running a couple of trains that were dedicated to being BOS-GCT and returning would enhance service north of NYC. Way too many times I have waited at NYP for trains going to Boston that are late because of issues of trains originating in DC or...

More Greyhound cutbacks and comparison with airlines

This episode captures Greyhound at its worst. The driver from New York didn't know where South Station was and dropped the passengers off at Sullivan Square..... How on earth can that happen????????

Should Amtrak restore service to Grand Central Terminal, NYC?

Amtrak ended service to GCT in 1991 but is it worth reevaluating in 2023? My gut feeling is it would be a win today, especially for service to New England and Albany. Thoughts?
