    amsnag inactivity emails

I've done a couple of things that might stop the problem. But to be honest, I can't figure out what is going on. The techies in the audience know that sending the emails requires a script (program in older jargon) and a cron job to execute the script in the background. I can't find evidence of...

    amsnag inactivity emails

It was some time ago that the the annoying email problem was reported. I never could find out what was causing it; but after being scolded by the hosting service the problem went away. Two questions for those receiving the emails. Have you entered an itinerary within the last several months...

Confused about a search result for a trip (NOL-CVS)

You would be amazed at some of the options Amtrak gives you to get from A to B. Then again, some very obvious choices don't show up.

Amtrak's New "Fresh Choices" Dining on CL & LSL

Did anyone spot this? ========================================================= © Savings Clause.Amtrak shall ensure that no Amtrak employee holding a position as of the date of enactment of the Passenger Rail Reform and Investment Act of 2015 is involuntarily separated because of (1) the...

Time to plan cross country trip before it’s too late?

I don't know whether train-offs are coming, but all this gloom and doom has me depressed. As medication, I've booked a circle tour: Fort Madison, Lamy, Denver, and back to Fort Madison.

Amtrak's New "Fresh Choices" Dining on CL & LSL

The talk about millennials reminds me of what I call the Boy Scout Syndrome. Back in the 60's the Boy Scout upper management decided that urban youths was where it's at. So they de-emphasized yokel type activities like hiking, camping, fishing, and swimming. It was a disaster. They alienated...

Chicago Union Station Metro Lounge (Snacks) Update

Please don't start with the contracted out bit. I'm sure Amtrak contracts out fuel delivery. But if the truck doesn't show up at Denver, passengers will be unhappy anyway.

Amtrak Sale: Seniors Save an Additional 10%

I don't think the issue is the discounts not applying to rooms or BC, rather that one can't upgrade by paying FULL fare.

Amtrak Sale: Seniors Save an Additional 10%

Yeh. Big deal. Rejecting the high prices sleepers command in exchange for giving up 10% of the much smaller rail fare seems like another case of shooting themselves in the foot.

Woman suing over Empire Builder rape case

The word "retraining" must have been a misprint. I'm sure training someone to not rape is above the pay grade of most company training departments.

Seat assignments (Acela pilot Feb 2018)

I'm guessing that it is to prevent the following scenario: passenger X books room A CHI-DEN and passenger Y books room B DEN-EMY. Now two rooms are not available for CHI-EMY, or Fort Morgan to Fraser for that matter. The computer would assign room A to passenger Y, making room B available.

Emp Serv to GCT, LSL NYP Suspended, Other NYP Changes 2018

What is the "it"? The statement makes it sound like once Amtrak decides, you won't have the opportunity to select one of the trains between ALB and NYP (oops NYG). Currently there are at least 12 trains per day, but who knows once it is decided. More basic question: why add a bus?

Both #7 and #8 with Service Disruptions Today (4/7)

This should satisfy the many who object to journalistic standards when this type of incident is reported Headline in the regional briefs section the Quincy Herald-Whig:

Temporary cancellation of Southwest Chief between CHI and KCI?

The BNSF bridge at Quincy is high above a flood even of 93's magnitude. What did get washed away was the West Quincy station, so ever since the Illinois Zephyr's and later Carl Sandberg's final stop is Quincy, although the train sets do lay over in West Quincy where the station used to be...

Anybody else hit a snag with Amsnag?

Close, but no cigar! The "Canceled" in the error message is the clue. I'll see what I can do.

Anybody else hit a snag with Amsnag?

The program requeries the website for each day, thus restarting the clock. So if you get one day, you should get them all. Could you PM me a screen shot of the problem if it reoccurs. I just tried a 20 day request and it ran successfully, taking 1 second per day. For connections of more than...

Sacramento Valley Station Red Cap service

I can also confirm that golf carts met an arriving CZ recently. This really is the definition of red cap, although NYP is an exception in that red caps don't seem to carry people in golf carts, only luggage in hand carts.

Anybody else hit a snag with Amsnag?

I was dickering with the hosting service tech support and in the process, they changed the database password. Both versions should be working now.

    Holland, St. Joseph MI

The link entitled "Bicycles to be welcome on Pere Marquette" makes it sound like bicycles had been banned on the PM. The article itself sounds like bike services is being expanded with the addition of a "baggage control car on the train that can carry bicycles". What's a baggage control car...
