    Odd sighting

Right, it was definitely Dome 10031...the recent pictures I've seen of it have it in Phase VI. I believe it's generally used for charters unless theres a single level Surfliner, someone correct me if I'm wrong on that, but it's undoubtedly 10031. (Ex-GN IIRC)

Elderly man dies after fall from train

You guys made a few good points. Typically the crew's don't use both latches, at least it seems that way when I pay attention to that detail. I think that its much more important that the doors are easy to open in an emergency than to be secure and difficult to open...especially since this is...

    New Connection from Boston

Great to hear from you again Jon, glad you've gotten that scholarship to Lynn University. Trip sounds pretty exciting, sounds like you and Sean will have a blast, and hopefully things will work out better at the museum this time. Looking forward to seeing your website up again soon. Thanks...

    New Connection from Boston

Thanks for the update Sean, sounds like he's doing alright for himself...I'd like to say best of wishes to him and good luck in Boca and at the new university. B)

    New Connection from Boston

Good to see another Florida connection, glad it's benefitted your plans. Speaking of Amfleet, what's happened to him? His site doesn't seem to be online more and it's been awhile since he's made a post.

Happy Birthday Sean, and Happy Belated Birthday Anthony!!! Congrats on hitting the big 18. :D

    Happy Birthday AMTRAK-P42

Happy Belated Birthday...I gather that by now you have some sort of drivers license by now if you didn't have one already...here in NJ its when you turn 17, so I've only got about 3 months to go. Anyway sounds like you had a lot of fun. As for those R-rated movies, it's a pain, but usually I...

    Serious injury at HIA

I haven't read your full post AmtrakWPK, but a Genesis couldn't be used for switching, its against federal law/regulations. For decades it's been where there needs to be a walkway around the engine in order for it to be permitted to operate as a switcher. Unless Amtrak wanted to start DHing a...

    Acela Service Cancelled till Summer

Exactly. :o I'm glad I've ridden it at least once for now...especially knowing it'll be this long now, it's a shame but at least they've caught it in time so far. It'll be wierd having the NEC back to 1999 basically for awhile (except for the fact we're in Phase VI now and with Regionals...

    Serious injury at HIA

Best of wishes to the injured workers...an unfortunate incident, but good to know both guys aren't seriously indangered. Hopefully CSX will be able to wake up and be a little more careful until Amtrak takes over.

    Amtrak Sneak Preview

Just got my timetable, and it's very interesting...they updated the schedules of course and removed all Metroliners (prematurely it seems now), but they didn't remove it from the page highlighting Northeast Corridor Service or the Glossary of Amtrak Services and Amenities. It's nice to see a...

ACELA's shut down due to brake problems.

Latest Word from NBC 4 is that suspension will last till next Wednesday and Amtrak officials think it'll take two months for all Acela sets to be put back in service.

ACELA's shut down due to brake problems.

Sorry, the link in my second post is the same as the one above.

ACELA's shut down due to brake problems.

Here's the latest release. Amtrak is adding Regionals for rush hour/evening to accomodate passengers: 2 are operating NYP-BOS (Trains 2166 and 2174 departing at 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM Respectively). 2 are operating BOS-WAS (Trains 2171 and 2173 departing at 3:20 PM and 4:20 PM respectively)...

ACELA's shut down due to brake problems.

Here's the official Amtrak Press Release. I can't believe it, I really cant :o Truly a testament to the Warrington era, it's crowning jewel...this hunk of junk. It's a nice train, but mechanically it seems to suck. Hopefully this will be the end of all of Acela's troubles...but with this...

    Change of times

Thanks for the info Chief. I must say that I like the way most of these changes sound. 97 departing later is certainly an improvement in my opinion, hopefully the subsequent change to 97 will be more like its old 7:00 PM ish departure out of NYP, which I found worked out better for me as it...

    Goodbye, Metroliner

It's a shame, I'll miss having Metroliners...truly an important era, one that was widely successful and reliable. This is a good sign though, that if Amtrak is able to eliminate Metroliners that it now trusts that the Acela's are improving in reliability and can handle their share of the...

    Pennsylvanian

Viewliners? On a day route... :o The consist is more of an Amfleet/Horizon Consist. I don't know the specifics of wheter Amfleet II's are used or not as they had been in the past, but definitely not Viewliners...they were pulled of the Three Rivers in October IIRC and replaced with...

    Amtrak (27) derailment in Washington.

Good points, not if only we could find a full service diner and enough equipment for a few daily runs we'd be set. Hopefully thanks to Gunn resuming the wreck repairs it won't be as bad of an impact to the fleet as these derailments had been in recent history.

Any word on if service resumed or when it will?
