    Questions about refreshments

Seem to remember a flap with the FDA about ice some time ago. For a while one had to go to the lounge or diner until someone figured out an ice chest in the SCA's room would suffice. I do remember seeing hands in the ice bin at the coffee stand on more than one occassion.

    Houston Station

Last month I had to take #1 to Houston. Four cab drivers turned me down because I wasn't going to an airport (I guess I should have written their cab #'s down but it was hot and steamy)....so I took the last one's advice and started walking "two blocks" to the light rail. Even with just an...

Lawsuit Filed in Crescent #20 Accident in La.

Great analysis. And I almost forgot about the state law (in Louisiana) that makes it mandatory to stop before crossing any RR track~ public or private. I think the end result here will be if it indeed was a public crossing and no one posted it as same. Awfully strange how the cross bucks went up...

Lawsuit Filed in Crescent #20 Accident in La.

And just what prevents Textron & the driver from filing suit on the NS ???

    Discrimatory treatment?

I don't think your letter will get posted here as we are not affiliated with Amtrak. The only way would be for you to make a posting with the contents of the letter. I would also write the Federal Railroad Administration, Office of Civil Rights, but bear in mind this incident did not happen to...

Lawsuit Filed in Crescent #20 Accident in La.

They are when it comes to a SIGNALLED crossing...you cannot have a public crossing without cross bucks; but then again this situation pops up."Once a RR determines which crossings are to be upgraded" which to me infers cross bucks are already in place.

Lawsuit Filed in Crescent #20 Accident in La.

The best I can tell from being on sight Jim is the NS is in deep doggie doo. There were NO cross bucks, let alone gates or lights at the crossing. When I got there, about 10 days after the accident, there were new cross bucks in fresh asphalt holding them up. The cross bucks were either in...

    What's wrong with #20 (30)?

Just guessing but the NS probably wouldn't turn the train loose until it cleared up the derailment at Akron and got all its own freights over the road.

Amtrak gets $562 million RRIF Loan for the ACS-64s

I think the biggest money question is going to be; "Just how are they going to pay for the Viewliner car order?"

    Whazz Up ???

This certainly has been a strenuous year on Amtrak. Trains that hardly ever see delays are being truncated. The poor Crescent is even getting slammed. Ironically, probably the all time leader in poor OTP is the Sunset and it rolls along arriving early at times. I cannot remember a worse year for...

Howz This For Disgusting? Ambulance Chaser Attorneys.

Jerry; I find this most repugnant as every one of the 17 people that decided to commit suicide in front of my trains had an attorney. The sorriest sap sucker had a process server come to my house while I was hoeing my garden~ one of the few pleasures I had working 7 days a week. The goof ball...

    New Amtrak Equipment Summary

In lieu of the $400 plus that Amtrak is supposedly losing on each pax on the Sunset, management might be wise to save a few nickels and keep it killed east of NOL. Between the overtime, bustitutions and general chaos associated with the 16 plus hours of common delays (and believe me they can...

    New Amtrak Equipment Summary

Speaking of Mica...he makes a big deal out of Veolia picking up the Florida contract out from underneath Amtrak. He needed to add a footnote~ they are the same outfit that killed those pax in Chattsworth while the engineer was texting. They don't have many contracts left. Ironically, one of them...

How many sleepers can a diner handle?

Yeah Jim the prices are starting to get out of the take out papaer plate category... :help:

    First Time Rider (Crescent)

You just might want to bring some snacks with you. Amtrak recently came out with a new menu in the diners and lounge cars and I even blushed at some of the prices. Enjoy your trip.
