That was my thought, but I wasn't sure. They were careful not to release the information that there was a fatality, although it was not hard to draw that conclusion with the reference to "emergency services investigating"
For details it's best to ask local railfans (including those who happen to also be railroaders). However, I don't see why one would need to know more than the fact that someone was hit.
On SEPTA we were always told in the bluntest way possible. I guess different roads have different approaches.
Probably because the media seems to want to cast the railroad as the villain in its coverage of such events?
Maybe to discourage trespassers?
