I'll be taking The Canadian next spring in Sleeper Plus class and was wondering if anyone here had information as to which beers are available onboard. The VIA Rail website only says "a selection of local beers" on this page: https://www.viarail.ca/en/plan/onboard-train/meals#the-canadian

Thanks in advance.
I can't tell you which Beers are currently on offer on the Canadian, but Canadian Beer has a Stronger Alcohol Content than American Beer.

And due to Taxes on Alcohol, and the Goods and Servicd Taxes, it is Priceier than Beer sold in the US.

Sleeper Plus passengers get to enjoy 2 beer tastings and 2 wine tastings if they ride the entire 5 day, 4 night trip. 3 samples of local products in each case, conducted in the Skyline car.😎

When I took The Canadian in September, I didn't purchase any beers on board. However we had a beer tasting session (one of several scheduled activities you can join in on) They used beers from the onboard stock they have usually for sale. We had Steam Whistle's Pilsner, Fort Garry Brewing's Middle Province and their Dark Ale. I wouldn't rate them that high. In addition I'm sure Molson and other international beers such as Heineken are sold on board. Of course they could change the supply, but VIA Rail like to offer both wines and beers from the provinces the train travels through.

The regular versions of Molson and Labatt's both have the same alcohol content as the regular version of Budweiser (5.0%).

But at any rate, in this era of "craft beer," you can find plenty of American and Canadian beers with a wide variety of strengths.
