Just bought tickets for our first Amtrak trip: Cincinnati to Alexandria. We secured a roomette on the Cardinal Line. I’ve been watching mostly YouTube videos to get prepped but have several questions only this forum can answer…I hope! I look forward to gleaning all the passenger train info I can get!

Good choice. Considered one of the most scenic train rides East of the Mississippi. One I wanted to do myself but life intervened.

Welcome aboard TrainNewbie, glad to have you here. Hope you have a fantastic first journey!
Thank you! The planning of the trip is as much fun as the actual trip for me. Can't wait to begin our train journey!

Welcome!
My parents are (were) from Connersville.
I've done the Cardinal a couple of times. The most recent was last September/October Chicago to Alexandria and return.
Thank you!! My husband is from Connersville. Although he moved away many years ago, we would visit his Mom often and he still has friends there.

Welcome from a fourth generation, Indianapolis born Hoosier. The good old days were when the "James Whitcomb Riley" stopped in Greensburg and Batesville.
Thank you! My Mom, brother and I did a trip from Indy to Chicago in 1987. We rode in a train car seemingly from the 50's! I wonder if Amtrak rolled out new passenger cars shortly after 1987?

We considered the California Zephyr to Denver from Cincinnati but felt we needed to do a shorter trip to see if we even liked train travel. I can't imagine I wouldn't like it though! And besides, I am finding out that you miss the best part of the trip getting off the Zephyr in Denver.

Welcome to Amtrak Unlimited.
Thank you!!
