Is Amtrak normally this busy in mid-December?

I am riding the Keystones today on a round trip jaunt to and from Philadelphia. Both trains and 30th Street station are packed to the gills despite it being a Saturday in mid-December. Is this because of the holiday season? I don’t recall it being this busy, but then again I’ve never ridden Amtrak in mid-late December..

Thoughts?

You’ll know on your return trip, if you see passengers loaded down with packages…😉

This is the norm this time of year. People wanting to go to NYC for the weekend.

That’s what I was kind of figuring as well. There weren’t a whole lot of people getting on at Philadelphia on 663 this morning going out to Harrisburg. But the train apparently was already pretty full coming from NYP. I brought my dad along for the ride and we actually couldn’t sit together until we left Paoli.
