That is a branch line train to a place called Orchha for some festival or the other. They probably got onto the roof somewhere on the branch itself. At the west end the branch connects to the Delhi - Chennai main route at Jhansi, which is electrified 25kV 50Hz AC. Unlikely they got on at Jhansi, since there would be many fewer of them that would have survived the inevitable electrocution. And AFAIK there are no tunnels on this route around Orchha.Especially if there are a lot of tunnels!!!! :lol:How can they stand on top of a moving train? There must be a Ron of fatalities from these conditions.
Though tunnels by themselves generally are not a problem since there is usually sufficient clearance for one to get through sitting down on the roof of these cars in tunnels that adhere to standard loading gauge guidelines on Indian Railways. They usually have sufficient clearance to carry 25kV catenary at standard height from rail.
Notwithstanding all that, as we all know there is nothing that can protect individual from their own ingenuity or stupidity, the distinction between which is often determined by the final outcome. There are way too many people that die of electrocution or falling off of the roofs of trains, though of late most of these incidents are localized on branch lines. The rate of such incidents on main lines have gone down significantly in the last decade. maybe Darwin is at work, who knows?
