Depends on the conductor. I have witnessed people talking loudly frequently as well. Wear eye mask and ear plugs.

Good news expansion to Long Island in 2026.

Are the Long Island trains going to be extensions of existing Amtrak trains? Northeast Regional, Empire Service, or what? Eliminating the need to change at Penn Station for some Amtrak trips by Long Island residents.

If not, I'm not sure I see the point of another rail operator on Long Island running express (relative to the LIRR trains) from Penn Station.

For the relative handful of passengers that would benefit from a potential “one seat ride”, I also can’t see the trouble and expense of what it would take for Amtrak to extend to Long Island.

They're not planning to put up catenary out on Long Island? Will the be Airos running on diesel once they get out of the East River tunnels? Will the across be capable of switching from electric to diesel on the fly?
