Roomettes in each train

Fantastic information! I am booked to #12. Looks like a lower. I asked for an upper. could I be on a transition sleeper? I also just posted a seat of pants trip scorecard. I'd appreciate your feedback.

I used the chat feature on amtrak site to get mine switched from 14 (lower) to upper level.

And you got a human? I had assumed the Chat was an AI Bot and was limited to FAQ’s. Will have to give it a try next time.

I'm guessing human . But it got me what I wanted, complete with email confirmation with new roomette number.

I wonder why they skip the numbers, 9 thru 14, and 16, on the transition car?

At least on the Builder, the practice is to treat 17-24 sort of like "an extension of the top level of the full sleeper", with access only via the door in the full sleeper and walking forward, not via the lower level of the transdorm. Under those circumstances "1-10 upstairs, low teens downstairs, high teens upstairs-and-through-the-doorway" is very handy at the single boarding door.

Cannot swear to that being a deliberate design, but it felt that to me when I first saw it.
