taking the coast startlight on thanksgiving day...will they serve a turkey dinner?

Check me if I'm wrong but I believe they have served some kind of Turkey in the Diner during Holidays; so I imagine that will continue. Now taking on a Turkey Dinner in the PPC would be hard to top.

They always have offered a turkey dinner on the Texas Eagle, at least a day or two before and a day or two after Thanksgiving.

Not sure how many takers they have for it after Thanksgiving!

Here's the turkey dinner I got on the CS last Christmas. It was quite good. (Can post the pumpkin pie, too, if you want :) ) I believe they have something similar at Thanksgiving.

We were returning home on the Coast Starlight the day after Thanksgiving last year. A wonderful turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served in the diner.

I've traveled around the winter holidays many times on the SL. They didn't always have the turkey dinner available, but when they did it seemed as though they generally had the option over multiple days or even a couple weeks depending on supply and demand. At least that's how I remember it. Is that how it works on the CS as well?

That actually does look good. I'm never expecting much when I go in the diner, and have still managed to be disapointed a time or two, but this looks actually enjoyable!

awesome! thx so much for the pics, chamilton! it looks yummy! and i won't have all the clean up!! :giggle:

Nice, that looks great! Maybe next year I'll try to find an affordable (probably not cheap) Sleeper ticket close to Thanksgiving!

Hope you have a great trip Redsandal!

IF you actually travel on Thanksgiving you'll likely to find low or second bucket prices. They are in low bucket for the roomette going northbound on Thanksgiving Day out of LA, for instance.

I've noticed that, at least on the Empire Builder, the day after Thanksgiving is also low bucket like crazy. Just bought tickets for SCD to MSP (return tickets I bought a few days ago) and they were low bucket. Works for me, as I can't turn down a day in the Cities (even if I'll get sucked into a MOA run.)

I hope your rigth I will be on the CS on xmas day! (leaving Seattle). Now I'm really looking forward to it.

I just saw this on Amtrak facebook:

"Like this if you'd love to have a Thanksgiving feast with us! From Nov. 21st to the 23rd, we will be offering passengers on our long distance routes a menu featuring a traditional holiday meal including turkey, pumpkin pie, and more."
