Where exactly does the time change between Eastern to Central happen between SOB and CHI? Does anyone know or have a general idea? I'm just curious.
It occurs when you pass from St. Joseph county to LaPorte county at New Carlisle, IN. That is about 14 miles west of South Bend.Where exactly does the time change between Eastern to Central happen between SOB and CHI? Does anyone know or have a general idea? I'm just curious.
Same thing occurs when you cross over from Michigan (which is in the Eastern Time Zone) into Indiana (in the Central Time Zone) or vice-versa. Been through that in 2009 twice, first on train #351 (which was between Kalamazoo and Chicago) and again heading back on train #350 (the train was between Michigan City and Niles). It occurs when you pass from St. Joseph county to LaPorte county at New Carlisle, IN. I think that the abbreviation SOB is a little bit of a laugh! :giggle: :lol:I'm not exactly sure of the county names, but I think there are 3 or 4 counties in IN (on that line) that are CT also.
I've been called an SOB many times! But I'd really hate to be an SOB from SOB!![]()

And the ICAO identifier for Rapid City SD is KRAP......Some of the airport codes are just as good. My own personal favorite: SUX, the code for Sioux City, IA.
