We have booked a bedroom on a trip for Nov. 6th on train 98 to BAL from Florida. Will this be a new Viewliner car?

Thanks!
Last time I looked, cars 10 and 12 were new Viewliners, but things could change by November.

Most of us just watch the train go by. Some ride the train and look. Others just read post from people who ride or watch.

A good Agent can tell you, but there far and few between.

Where do you "look" to get this information? Just curious.

Thanks!
I was on the train. Also I live in Orlando and can walk to a crossing about a mile away and actually "look" at the train. Since it is pretty hot when 98 passes through Orlando, I do not walk to the crossing that often to look. I last took 98 in July.

The Silvers and the AT all pass by this railcam where you can see the trains

The AT just went by - 98 goes by somewhere around 5 AM when it is running on schedule as far as I can tell

Viewliner I - at the end of the car there is a top and bottom window (roomette).

Viewliner II - at the end of the car there is only a top window (bathroom). Also, check out the name plate.

I think the easiest way is to look under the car body, if it's visible. The VL II has everything except the wheels covered, protected from the elements. The VL I is mostly open.

On this clip (starting @2:38), after the coaches, there's a diner, a VL II, a VL I, and VL II. Only the VL I has the open undercarriage.

There will always be multiple questions on the same subject. Many folks just drop in once in a while to ask questions so arent reading posts every day. Ive been here for many years and had the same question earlier this year. I happened to see travel reports on 91 and 98 Viewliner II's and comments from others in Florida who had seen the II's pass by. I then booked car 9111 which was the Viewliner II.

Sorry to have apparently asked the same question again. But cut me a little slack as I'm pretty much a newbie here.

I'll take a look at the trains on youtube and see if I can determine which is which.

And thanks for the help. It is appreciated!
I will post in one of the V2 threads if I see anything new. I will be on 98 in a few weeks. My old eyes are better at telling the difference in person rather than on video.
Here is a link to a very generic long pinned thread on Viewliner IIs: Viewliner II Part 4: Sleeping Car Production, Delivery, Speculation

In no way your fault. Just pointing out that there have been a lot of threads asking this very question.

So I went to YouTube this morning and viewed the video from the Ashland camera but didn't see train 98. I checked Train Status on the Amtrak website and it says train 98 is unavailable.

What happened to train 98?

98 had a service disruption in Winter Park, FL yesterday. However it is still running even though the website says the data is unavailable.

91 generally has 2 sleepers and 9110 has not been a VL2 recently

That’s okay. I’m in a Bedroom when I ride in the near future. Just wasn’t sure.

My trips next year on 98 and 91 will be in Roomettes. Hopefully I’ll be in a VL2 then.

I’ll be in 9810 and 9110…
