Is this heaven? No. It's Iowa.
In early May I'll be on the #3, the #2, and the #22, all for the first time.

I'm getting on the #3 in Galesburg, IL and am going to LA.

I'll get back to Galesburg by going from LA to Chicago on the #2, #22/422, and then the #383 to Galesburg.

When I have ridden the #5 & #6 I have always enjoyed watching the other train go past as one of the 2 trains sits on a siding close to or in Glenwood Canyon.

I'm wanting to check the meet up times for these routes I've not yet been on.

If both are on time, it looks like the #3 meets the #4 in the morning somewhere between Lamar, CO and La Junta, CO @ about 8 AM.

That night it looks like the #3 and #4 meet about 12:30 AM between Needles, CA and Kingman, AZ.

It looks like the Thursday #2 (422/22) meets the Thursday #1 (421/21) close to or at the station in Tucson, AZ about 7:30.

It also looks like we have double-track all the way from LA and into NM.

And, it looks like the #22 (422) meets the #21 (421) in or near Ft. Worth, TX @ about 2 PM, and the next day in or near Chicago Union Station.

That is one place the the Chief's meet at. There is three trains out at all times to get daily service. Other meeting place are west of Chicago and West of Newton Kansas.

There are various sidings east of Lamy where the trains can meet; if both on time at Glorieta. Some of the sidings are hand throw switches. I have also seen them meet at Lamy station, when the westbound had to wait until the eastbound departed, and then used the alternate platform. Normally no other trains are seen in this territory, since the removal of regular freight service some years ago.

When I have ridden the #5 & #6 I have always enjoyed watching the other train go past as one of the 2 trains sits on a siding close to or in Glenwood Canyon.
FWIW, the theoretical meeting of trains 5 & 6 West of Denver (based solely on data in the published timetable) will be at 1:00 pm local time at a point located 30 miles East of Glenwood Springs. Don't know about any of the others.

Regards
