    MKA Shuttle

It runs regularly. I do this all the time, sometimes there is one waiting, on arrival, but never have I waited more than 10 minutes beforeit arrives. It runs a regular pickup and drop off loop.

    Rocketmiles?

Curious, how many AGR points does rocketmiles throw at you? AA miles are pretty generous, anywhere from 3000-10000 per stay. Might need to see what I can get in AGR points next time.

    Rocketmiles?

I usually stay at IHG hotels, to keep my points in one basket. ( I travel a LOT for work...points add up fast) But sometimes I need to stay at another hotel for meetings or conventions, when I do, I usually book through Rocketmiles for the AA miles. It's convenient, and I'd rather earn a lot of...

    Which roomette?

I'm firmly in the "I prefer lower level rommettes" camp. It's all preference. There really is no right or wrong answer, but given the choice, I'll take lower level every time.

New operator of train fair sought

Yeah. There is that....I hope things aren't as bad as some of the forums are making out. I was able to ride their train from NOL-CHI a couple years ago. Was fantastic, probably as close as I'll ever come to riding the Super Chief! Class act. Best trip I've ever had. Now with no real diner on the...

    CONO getting chef back?

How nice would a real Bloody Mary be, not just a can of mix and a bottle of vodka in a 6 oz plastic cup......

All aboard the China-to-London freight train

That is exactly the reason. But with modern airlift, it makes it somewhat of a moot point.

Ward of CSX says one man crew across the board is inevitable

You'look just have to wait a while. Until then, we can simply enjoy the regular everyday Human Error operating beyond envelope incidents.

Ward of CSX says one man crew across the board is inevitable

Not only that, but eventually, probably within my lifetime on some routes, there will be no crew members on board at all. The technology is here now, and rapidly advancing. It's already in use in Australia with some success. I was able to see a demo of the software a year ago, was incredible. US...

    Uber vs. a regular taxicab

If nothing else, you're still amusing.

    Uber vs. a regular taxicab

Exactly. The city of Austin demographics chased it out, due to unnecessary and overly burdensome regulations on a business model that provided more efficient service at lower cost. Follow the money-Why was this issue brought for a vote in the first place? Austin is quickly becoming the...

    Uber vs. a regular taxicab

I'm a recent convert, but am an Uber fan. In my limited experience with Uber, it's cleaner, faster, safer, and more convenient. Used I extnsively in Chicago, Birmingham, and OKC so far. Love it. Have not yet tried Lyft, probably should. Heck, just the simple fact that Austin bans it, tells me...

Texas Eagle & Sunset Limited from LA

Correct. 2 are dropped off from the SB Eagle on Sunset days, and 2 are picked up for the NB Eagle departure on sunset arrival days. So while the consist is the same, the cars change. Only on non-sunset days does the SB train turn and go North with the same coach and sleeper it came South with.

    Chicago Union Station Bar options

Perfect thanks. Never even knew it was there, only occasionally went to the food court for a Gold Coast dog, never noticed a bar in the area. Thanks.

Texas Eagle & Sunset Limited from LA

Good info, I just booked OKC-FTW-LAX-SAN for a getaway trip with the wife. Heading to San Diego for the CVMA (Combat Vets Motorcycle Association) rally/convention/meeting, for a week of riding SoCal with about 1400 of our closest friends. (Train out, renting an Indian M/C for the week, then fly...

    Chicago Union Station Bar options

I have not changed trains at CUS in a while now, all my trips have begun, or ended there, so haven't been in the new Met Lounge. I rarely used the old met, as it was too crowded, and tough to navigate through the oxygen tanks and 80lb suitcases all over the floor. My usual hangout until train...

Chicago: Layover with a coach seat

Isn't there also a new "pay to play" executive type lounge in Chicago, in addition to the new met lounge? (sorry, I've been out of the loop for a year of so, haven't been to CHI on a layover in some time. Will be there later this month, and have time to kill before the SW Chief departs though...
