looks like the Heartland Flyer wins! I also want more routes, not fewer. But if one route HAD to go (perhaps to add one we really want like the Floridian), I'd pick the Heartland. I think we need the International. The Chicago-Toronto link is rather important. Just my two cents.

not knowing as much about Amtrak as you guys, I was wondering if the Floridian has any real chance of being brought back into use? I would think from a financial point of view that it's a train that would be used! Scott

Hi guys, I've book a res for the standard sleeper on the EB for July, SEA-CHI. Last year I traveled CHI-SEA. Great ride, great train. I asked for room #11 since I prefer downstairs. My question is this: Is #11 preferable to #12 in terms of scenery? Now I know the coaches can be switched...

I don't know the situation very well, but can someone tell me if this means the Coast Starlight would stop running...or simply not be run by Amtrak anymore? Thanks, Scott

I'm looking forward to a trip on the Canadian this summer. One thought: Canada wisely may invest in its infrastructure because the government isn't funding endless wars.

I had to smile at the guest's posting. I, too, last summer had the unfortunate circumstance that the PPC had been removed from the consist. They did replace it with an observation car, but had all the breakfast goodies out for an hour or more. I'd already eaten, but ate some more :)

Hi, The above posters said it all; I just wanted to assure you that it will be a great trip. I took my first Amtrak trip last summer; it was amazing. The other people on the train, not to mention the scenery (even dull scenery) make it interestng. It's a part of Americana that I hope survives...

hi, I haven't been on a Viewliner yet, just the superliners, but one thing I wish Amtrak had are berths, as on The Canadian, so there is an option ffor those who don't wish to ride coach but can't afford standard rooms.
