Yup, Roomette booked originally then booked the upgrade last min for $380ish no browner IMO. More details on that in my intro thread. That Beggar's Pizza slice was quintessential Chicago-style deep-dish pizza; the hubby would have loved it! The train-themed decorations on the Christmas tree in CUS were certainly appropriate. I think I've probably walked down those stairs which were featured in that scene from "The Untouchables," but it was a very long time ago, probably back in my college days.
It sounds like you're traveling solo in a bedroom on the EB? The hubby had similar issues with the ensuite toilet/shower in our bedroom on the Texas Eagle. Good to hear that you were switched to a room in better repair!
Thanks, yeah downloaded some movies but will prob be chilling in the room. Thanks for the report and photos! Look forward to more as you go. Cell service gets spotty as you get into Montana, then nonexistent through the Rockies. You'll have good service again the last morning.
Thanks for the trip report!
When I'm in a Bedroom, I always take a shower downstairs. The shower is much larger, and it doesn't get my toilet all wet.
asm.transitdocs.com says your westbound #7 is still in Montana, on-time at Shelby. By morning, it should be nearing Pasco WA. You can watch it on transitdocs, and see if it stays on time (amtrak expects that it will). #27 will show up separately on the map after they split the train at Spokane in the middle of the night. After a week on the Oregon Coast Rockaway Beach time to head home tomorrow 1/2 in a bedroom on EB 28 out of Portland.
Anybody seen any delays on it arriving tomorrow or how would I find out that info?
More pics and details to come.
Sweet does it have a dinning car? Lol
#28 just has the cafe as far as Spokane, then you get the full diner once it joins #8. So your dinner would be served out of the cafe the first night, then the diner starting with breakfast the next day.Sweet does it have a dinning car? Lol
Hoping for the the best.

I'd watch the weather, too. There is a rapid warming trend expected in the Cascades overnight tonight and into tomorrow, with snow turning to rain tomorrow at higher elevations. This change in the weather may end up traveling eastward right along with you, meaning possible heavy snow in the Rockies. If you are lucky, it will be winter wonderland when you wake up near Whitefish on Friday morning. If you are lucky, your train will make it through Marias Pass before any avalanches brought down by the warming weather close the tracks. If you are not lucky, I hope you are prepared with some extra snacks and warm clothing, as it could be a long trip (but some of us call that being extra-lucky).
Please do keep us posted about your progress in the trip reports section! It sounds like you will have a beautiful and possibly exciting trip!

Today's eastbound train #28 is scheduled to leave on-time at 4:45.
The eastbound #8/28 that left yesterday lost 2 hours between Essex and Browning (Marias Pass) this morning. I wonder if they were doing some pre-emptive avalanche control.
You could be looking at an exciting trip!
