I was checking the schedules of the new Floridian for a possible trip and was surprised to see the reduced dwell time in Washington. I think we had all wondered if the current schedule had enough time there to compensate for a late arriving Capitol. It's arrival time hasn't changed at 1:05pm. Apparently Amtrak has more confidence in CSX performance than many of us, Although, as you can see, the total trip time did increase by one hour.

They appear to have added one hour of padding en route south of WAS.

I think the issue is having a train tying up lower-level space at WAS for so long, given that you’d have a bunch of Amtrak trains to/from VA, plus a (hypothetically on-time) north/westbound Floridian, plus the VRE service all needing that space.

Also, they frequently load Washington-originating Northeast Regionals in the lower level as well, even when there seem to be lots of empty tracks in the upper level.

I scheduled my first trip on the Floridian for early next month. A round trip, sort of. Pittsburgh to Orlando with a stopover to finish the leg to Miami on Brightline, and a return directly from Miami. I'll be eager to see if I get VIs or VIIs. Much prefer the IIs. I'm in the 10 car going south and the 11 car returning. Not sure how this consist will compare with the current Silver Star. Maybe it's identical.

I booked a ticket on the last 29, we’re supposed to leave in a few minutes from WAS. But it says it’s delayed. The Amtrak staff member is saying we’re waiting on the 92, which will become the 29. I’m confused, did they start the “through-running” early? I thought today was going to be the last day of the superliners…

29(10) will use 92(09)’s consist in order to get a single level consist to Chicago for the inaugural run of the Floridian from Chicago.

I’m pretty sure the announcement said the Floridian would start on the 10th from Miami and the 11th from Chicago.

The first Floridian 41 leaves Chicago tonight, I believe.
Interesting that they’re doing it this way. So what happens to the Superliner consist that came in on the 30 today?

Good evening, all. Could someone remind me again of what the consist will look like on # 40 departing MIA tomorrow? Thanks!
The consist is supposed to be the same as the Silver Star, 2 Chargers or P42s, four Amfleet II coaches, and Amfleet II lounge, a Viewliner II diner, two Viewliner sleepers and a baggage car. I read somewhere that the Floridian is supposed to get a third sleeper when more Viewliners become available.

Taking Acela first-class from Boston Back Bay to DC, then the Floridian in coach to Raleigh. Will I be eligible to use the Metropolitan Lounge at DC on the basis of having arrived with a first-class ticket? Not in a sleeper on the Floridian outbound.

Do we know which sleeper is a VII?

Unfortunately, both Plant City, FL railcams have been offline. Might be able to tell when it passes Folkston, GA, around 11:35 pm based on its current delay.

Unfortunately, the Plant City railcams have been down since the last severe storm in FL.

If it helps, RailStream's Rocky Mount, NC camera will see the NB Floridian at around 11A EST tomorrow.

This is how the train is listed on transitdocs map for the train that left Miami today at 11:05 AM

Maybe Dixieland does not have enough station spaces in the present programing to allow all the way to MIA and CHI? If you notice there are exactly 42 stations listed both ways. Programing may be a way off since 42 does not fall in the usual binary 32 or 64 but is 32 + 10

But the Canadian does have that more stops at the binary 64 number stations.

Each 40/41 train isn't listing the last 4 stops. It must be a data structure limitation...not sure if that's in Amtrak's system or transitdocs.
Yeah I think theres just too many stops for the website to put on a single train.
