Also meant to mention, I took the post here about same-day connections in Chicago to heart. I've gone westbound PHL-LAX many times, but have done LAX-PHL eastbound twice, and missed my connection to the Cardinal both times—I had to get bussed to Indianapolis and board the Cardinal, and I'd like to avoid that again.

It was either chance it again, spend a night in Chicago, or spend a night in New Orleans.

Since I've never taken the Sunset all the way, and have never taken the Crescent, this routing won out!

Doesn't the Cardinal leave the earliest of all LD trains? I understand the appeal of the train, but perhaps it's better to take the LSL that has a later departure time and just transfer in NYP next time.
