I see there are delays between Philadelphia and New York presently on account of downed power lines and there is only one track in operation.
It was shut down completely between PHL & NYP between 5:xx (guess on my part) till about noon. Heard a tree fell on the wires north of Philly.

They did move some trains to PHL from WAS and to TRE from NYP and held them till the tracks opened.

Delays along the Northeast Corridor

December 22, 2024 1:30 PM

Amtrak personnel have restored two of the four tracks to regular service between New York Penn Station (NYP) and Philadelphia 30th St William Gray Station (PHL), allowing train movement. Trains operating on the available tracks are operating at reduced speeds. We are doing our best to move trains in time table order in hopes of minimizing delays. This incident has impacted trains operating from Washington Union Station (WAS) to Boston South Station (BOS). Customers traveling along the Northeast Corridor should expect delays of at least 30 minutes to 60 minutes. We will update you when the service is fully restored. We appreciate your patience.

Customers with reservations on affected trains will typically be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day. Amtrak will waive additional charges for customers looking to change their reservation during the modified schedule by calling our reservation center at 1-800-USA-RAIL.

NBC Evening News tonight did a segment on the Amtrak delays.

Amtrak service has resumed Sunday evening with delays between New York City and Philadelphia after it was suspended for much of the day. The delays are complicating the weekend travel rush for train travelers heading home on the last weekend before the holidays. NBC News' Priscilla Thompson reports from New York Penn Station.
