One of the locals told me that it gets colder in Montreal than it does in Moscow in the winter. Could that be true?
Not sure about that one, but I can tell you that it can get very cold there. However, I think that Timmins still beats Montreal in that department.

The Adirondack was just getting ready to board when I arrived in Montreal. I am on Sunday's (tomorrow's) train, which is almost sold out. I guess I will not have 2 seats to myself. :(
And if you want a window seat, get there at least an hour before departure so as to be near the head of the line. It grows very fast! Or pay the hefty tip for a Redcap to take your bags down early and secure a seat for you.

That said, the train isn't sold out out of Montreal, it's sold out as of Albany. I can still buy 8 tickets between Montreal and Schenectady for tomorrow. I'm sure that there will still be a considerable crowd crossing the border with you, but it won't be a sell out until Albany.
Thanks. I plan to get there early tomorrow and also plan to tip a redcap. I still have some Canadian dollars left.

:hi: Glad you made it back to Montreal without getting Lost! It does get really Cold there in the winter, and its that Damp Cold that makes it seem even Colder! :excl: :excl: :excl: I haven't been in Canada in a couple of Years but Alan and other Members have Posted that the Redcaps can be very Aggressive when it comes to tips and will even tell you what they want to carry your bags to the Train! )Petite as you are they could carry you too! :giggle: )

Hope you do get a good seat tomorrow in an Amfleet II (you don't really need the Spotty Wifi, the Good Seats are better on the 12 hour Trip!)and that Customs and Immigration goes swiftly and Smoothly! Knowing you, a reminder, remember that Good Canadian Beer is Stroinger than the Water we Brew and Sell Here!   Look forward to your updates, have a Good trip back to New York and Florida! :)

Very unlikely that she'll be seated in an Amfleet II. I'm betting that they'll put everyone into the AMF I's.

It does not happen very often, BUT, Alan lost his bet. I am seated in an Amfleet II and very comfortable. I have my mi-fi with me and it just started working since we are at the border. I am in the last car and it is not full. No one is sitting next to me. I guess it paid to wear my skunk perfume.   it was also worth the $5 tip to the redcap to board early. I am on the Lake Champlain side of the train. :)

Crossed the border with no problem. I am in the cafe sitting with a couple of 25 year old musicians who just finished a gig in Plattsburgh. Yes, I feel old.

Btw, I was sitting here first and they joined me.

What brand of beer are you drinking, Penny? Genessee? Labatts?

Did you see any Mounties when you were in Canada?

Drank a diet Pepsi, but will have a beer later. I drank only Canadian beer in Canada, and did not see any Mounties.

You saw lots of them Penny! They only wear the Red Uniforms during Parades and PR Opportunities! Canada has a pretty extensive Security Operation but its low key, just like the People! Not much Security Theater like we have here! and FYI, they are called Constables, not Mounties, that name came from those that used to ride Horses Back in the Day chasing Outlaws in the Boonies!(RCMP is what most Canuks call the Agency: Royal Canadian Mounted Police!)Have a Canadian or Blue or two as you roll down the Beautiful Lake  !!!!!

I had the comfy car on the return trip. I was in the cafe car on the return trip for several hours and made some very nice "new friends."

There was a big difference between the I's and II's. I hope you get a II. It made the long trip much more comfortable. (The cute 25 year old guys in the cafe helped also :giggle: )

Edit - we were a bit early arriving in NYP, although we lost some time during the customs stop.

Nice! If they manage to do the customs in MTR then the Adirondack could get a lot faster.
