I was on #11 on Wednesday. The PPC was in the consist. I enjoyed dinner in the PPC. It was my third trip this year in the PPC. I hope Amtrak puts them back in service.

I'm at the Palmer House right now. It is a classic hotel and worth whatever you pay. It is a $6 cab ride from/to CUS.

I got off 11 this morning in Emeryville. No problems with the PPC on this train.

I just arrived in Portland on 27, after traveling from Winter Haven, Florida on 98, Washington on 29 then 27. I'm in the lounge waiting for 11 to Emeryville. A very enjoyable trip. I will return on 11 to LAX, 422 to CHICAGO, 30 to WAS and 97 to Winter Haven.

If no food is prepared on the train, why is there a Chef on board? What does the Chef do?

I have recently traveled on the Silver Meteor, Lake Shore Limited, Texas Eagle, Capitol Limited and had outstanding SCA's on each train. I can only think of one trip where I was unhappy with the SCA.

I say overnight or overnights.

I was on the Southwest Chief in August and we hit a tractor trailer truck in Kansas. It was on flat land where one could see for miles, bur apparently the truck driver didn't!!

I made the eastbound trip on #6 three weeks ago. It was a good trip in the sleeper and dining cars. The staff were friendly, helpful and experienced. My SCA was Sergio. He was truly outstanding!! The sleeper car had been refurbished and was most pleasant. Josh, thanks for your fine report.

On my recent trips on the Silver Meteor, I was provided with two large bottles of water. On the Southwest Chief and Coast Starlight, we received four bottles.

I'm currently on the Zephyr en route to Florida. I'm hoping for a proper connection to #97 in WAS. I didn't realize the bus connection o Toledo was an option. I prefer to sleep in a sleeper car and not on a bus.

I have been on the CL three times in the past two months and will be on #30 tomorrow. It is a Superliner vs Viewliner on the LSL. I have been pleased with the CL and is more convenient for the trips I take.
